Getting in the Mood

It’s a while since I sat on the train, with my iPad on the table in front of me, heading for a morning of creative thought. I missed the last writers’ meeting, and so today I’m hoping that being with the others will spur some energy and inspiration for the second of the topics I’ve to write for.

It’s days like today when I reflect on how like others I am. As writers’ we have been asked to move to a new format with a new way of selecting a topic, and I have struggled with that. I’ve found the topic clumsy, and the sub themes contrived.

It has meant that it was late last night before I finally finished the first three pieces of work. There are three more to produce for next month, and I would imagine a further piece to be selected today.

And last night reminded me how much I need the pressure to be forced to a place where I can focus and only work on the task in hand. Especially when working with themes that have no depth or meaning for personal experience.

So change is a struggle, when I’m prepared to admit it.

Of course the bonus of a day away is that you get to enjoy the peace of the train and the beauty of the world going by on a sunny day.
